Pickles stops me in my tracks with her first ‘love you Mummy’.

Today Pickles gave me a gift. The biggest gift she has given yet. She called for me, gave me her gleeful smile, that blue glint in her eye flicking up on my face and followed it with “lub Mummy”. I oozed in happiness for hours after she said it.

The moment all Mums and Dads must connect the most with their child must be that moment when they tell you, freely, for the first time, that they love you. This unprompted giving of affection, not only just through action but with words gave me the most thrilling feeling I have experienced.

This parenting gig just keeps getting better.

  1. It is the greatest gift when given out of the blue isn’t it. Even thought my 8 year old son is a Jedi Knight now and is going to defeat all the badies in the universe, I still get hugs in the morning, and on the odd day “I love you mum” my heart feels heavy for a moment with so much love I cannot cope with until I regain my breath.
    Go Pickles…
